African Wild Dog Reproduction

Breeding occurs once a year. Only the alpha male and female reproduce. The gestation period lasts 70 days. The female has a litter of 2 to 20 pups. At birth all pups are black and white. Weaning takes place at about 10 weeks. The entire pack helps raising the young.
